RTX 4080 12GB model canceled by NVIDIA
The RTX 4000 series was introduced with three separate graphics cards. Apart from the GeForce RTX 4090, there were two different models for the RTX 4080. Two different RTX 4080 models announced, 16 GB and 12 GB. However, NVIDIA has announced that the RTX 4080 12GB model canceled.

The difference of the RTX 4080 was not only ram. There were also big differences in performance. 12GB looked about 24% to 30% slower when tested for raw performance without DLSS technology enabled. If DLSS was turned on, the RTX 4080 12GB model would yield lower performance differential results of about 21% to 26%.
The 12 GB model of the cards expected to be available for sale in November was canceled by NVIDIA. As a reason, a statement was made as “The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing. So, we’re pressing the “unlaunch” button on the 4080 12GB. The RTX 4080 16GB is amazing and on track to delight gamers everywhere on November 16th. If the lines around the block and enthusiasm for the 4090 is any indication, the reception for the 4080 will be awesome”.
When the cards were first announced, gamers made fun of the fact that the 12 GB model was a very expensive RTX 4070. We believe that this is an important factor in the decision of the company.
According to this statement, the canceled model will be released under another name. However, this did not cause any disruption in the release of the 16 GB model. The RTX 4080 16GB will be available on November 16, with a starting price of $1,199.
